Today, 23rd August 2010,οΎ marks our Group's 69th Anniversary.
The Tappoo Group was founded by my late father Mr Tappoo Kanji on 23rd August 1941. Wonderful things have been happening since the opening of our TappooCity complex in the heart of Suva city on 9 December 2009. We are truly humbled by the overwhelming response we have received from people of all walks of life in regards to this iconic development. Our new 3 level flagship department store, housed in TappooCity, has been visited in large numbers by the people of Fiji as well as our tourists since it opened its doors in early December. This store is now the largest up market department store in Fiji by far. Since the opening, TappooCity has created more than 200 new jobs. We have been selecting our tenants and partners carefully to blend in with what we are trying to create in TappooCity - a world-class shopping and entertainment destination for the people of Fiji. We have finalised most of the tenancies for specialised shopping and the international food court. Amongst the attractions will be a coffee shop on the ground floor with outdoor seating in the garden promenade overlooking the water. The food court on level 4 and the executive offices on level 5 and 6 have breathtaking views of the Suva harbour. Our most recent tenant, the ANZ Banking Group demonstrated its long-term player status in the market place by choosing to place its flagship branch in TappooCity. This is a demonstration of their commitment to Fiji. And our investment in TappooCity is a demonstration of our commitment to the nation. As the ANZ CEO worldwide, Mr Mike Smith, from Australia stated at the ground breaking ceremony for the ANZ Fiji flagship branch at TappooCity: "This is the best building in town. And we are delighted to be working with Tappoo on this exciting development at TappooCity." The building offers Fiji's most modern and advanced state-of-the-art facilities and features that enable a tenant to provide an outstandingly efficient place of business for their clients. We have four sets of lifts and escalators for easy access to all 6 floors of the building, we have back-up generators and back-up water tanks, a secure car park for more than 70 cars, self cleaning technically advanced waste chute on the food court floor for efficient waste disposal, a separate goods lift, and we have Fiji's most technologically advanced and energy-efficient air-conditioning system. Alongside the completion of TappooCity, we are in the midst of a complete renovation of our Fiji Duty Free store in Nadi Airport's airside Departures area. We will soon have a completely new-look store enabling a fresh focus on our core categories. Thank you |
